Longtime local resident Suzanne (Brod) Besco, 73, of Longview passed away Oct. 27, 2015, at the Hospice Care Center.

She was born April 3, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., to Peter and Eunice (Dexter) Brod. The family moved to Kelso in 1952 and Suzanne graduated from Kelso High School in 1960. She served two years in the Air Force, stationed at Scott AFB in Illinois.

On May 25, 1962, Suzanne married Roy Besco in Bellville, Ill. He survives her at home.

In 1968 Suzanne graduated from Longview Business College. She retired in 2001 from Newark Paper Products.

Suzanne enjoyed reading, sewing, and photography, and was a member of the Kelso United Methodist Church and the Kelso Royal Neighbors of America. She was also a former Girl Scout leader and a Columbia Heights Elementary School Reading Program volunteer for 10 years. The second and third grade students affectionately called her “Mrs. B.”

She was a compassionate lady who loved her family and friends deeply. Suzanne believed in treating people fairly and will be remembered for her kindness.

In addition to her beloved husband, Roy, Suzanne is survived by two children, Warren Besco (Tina) and Anita Besco, both of Longview; four grandchildren, Shira Gleave (Todd) of Kennewick, Wash., Brady Besco of Hillsboro, Ore., Amber Cabrales (Steven) of Fresno, Calif., and Kayla Bach of Longview; an “honorary grandson,” Shane Kelly of Longview; two great-grandchildren, Landon Gleave and Brooklyn Gleave, both of Kennewick; two siblings, Steve Brod of King City, Ore., and Rosalie Foster of Castle Rock; and her dear friend, Shelley Palodichuk.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings, Tommy Brod and Margie Johnson.

A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home with Pastor Vonda McFadden officiating. A viewing is planned from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
